Headaches

Headaches can have debilitating effects, causing intense pain, throbbing sensations, and even sensitivity to light and sound.

Image

How We Can Help

Reid Physicians Group offers treatments in headache management. The sphenopalatine nerve block relieves pain for patients with migraines, cluster and tension headaches, and atypical facial pain. It is applied through a non-sterile small applicator or catheter intended for use in adults to deliver small amounts of fluid to the nasal pathway, including the area of the inferior turbinate, superior turbinate, sphenopalatine foramen, etc. It is intended for use on adult patients with intact nasal mucosa.

The purpose of the procedure is to desensitize the area of the nerve thus reducing the occurrence of headaches. It can be given over a course of four weeks in patients with chronic headaches, or as needed for those patients with less frequent symptoms. It can also be used with physical therapy, chiropractic, and diet modification as adjunctive treatments.

Why Should You Consider This Treatment?

  • It is safe and effective
  • Has fewer side effects than other migraine treatments on the market
  • Takes less than five minutes

Rehabilitation

At Reid Physicians Group, our priority is on restoring the spines and bodies of our patients to maximum pain-free function.

Image

How We Can Help

From the moment you call us until you reach the end of your treatment program, you can feel confident that you are getting our absolute best patient-centered care. We strive to provide each individual patient the personalized care needed to relieve your pain fast and keep you pain free for the long haul.

We start by conducting a thorough assessment of your condition. As soon as we have a comprehensive diagnosis of the extent and root cause of your pain, we will develop a personalized treatment program to speed your healing. Our first goal will be to relieve inflammation and treat your injury with natural and medical therapies combined with chiropractic care. As the inflammation subsides, our spinal rehabilitation specialists help you to strengthen areas that have been weakened as a result of injury to help ensure complete healing so that you remain pain free.

Our spinal rehabilitation programs are unique in that our emphasis is on improving the function of the discs in the spine. We have found that adding specialized chiropractic care and medical pain management is very effective in reducing inflammation in the discs as well as rehydrating the discs and restoring their function. Our focus on restoring function and mobility to your spine helps reduce pain and fatigue.

In addition to therapies provided in our office, every patient receives a plan of independent exercises and home therapies that, if followed, will speed recovery. The customized program focuses on strengthening your spinal and core muscles to improve flexibility and activity levels.

We can help with your physical rehabilitation.

Trigger Point

Trigger points are focal areas of spasm and inflammation in skeletal muscle.

Image

How We Can Help

Often there is a palpable nodule in the muscle where the trigger point is located. The area is tender, and frequently when pushed, pain radiates from the trigger point itself to an area around the trigger point. Trigger points commonly accompany chronic musculoskeletal disorders such as fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, neck pain, and low back pain. They may also occur with tension headaches and temporomandibular pain. Acute trauma or repetitive minor injury can lead to the development of trigger points.

What is Trigger Point Injection?

A trigger point injection (TPI) is an injection that is given directly into the trigger point for pain rehab. The injection may be an anesthetic such as lidocaine (Xylocaine) or bupivicaine (Marcaine). Sometimes, a needle alone is inserted into the trigger point, and no medication is injected. This may be helpful and is referred to as “dry needling.” With the injection, the trigger point is made inactive and the pain is relieved.

Pain Rehab

Pain affects everyone from time to time, but if your pain isn’t going away there may be something more going on.

Image

How We Can Help

Pain rehab is a specialized area of medicine that focuses on reducing pain. The experts at Reid Physicians Group work together to provide you with an effective treatment plan to help reduce your pain and restore your health by focusing on the rehabilitation of your body and spine.

The integrative medical team at Reid Physicians Group provides pain rehab for:

  • Knee pain
  • Neck and back pain
  • Headaches
  • Joint pain

What is Chronic Pain?

Medically, chronic pain is defined as pain that lasts for longer than three months. Chronic pain not only affects you physically but can take a toll on your emotional health as well.

When you suffer an injury, your body turns on special nerves that send a pain signal to alert your brain that something is wrong. Under normal circumstances, when your injury heals, the pain signals stop. However, if you suffer from chronic pain, those special pain signals continue to fire, causing you to feel prolonged pain and discomfort.

What Treatments are Available?

The team at Reid Physicians Group offers a number of different treatments to manage your pain. Your treatment plan is individualized and based on the source of your pain and your overall health.

Pain rehab treatment usually starts with a natural botanical pain-relieving compound created especially for you that helps reduce pain and inflammation. To speed up the healing and recovery process, the team at Reid Physicians Group may also recommend chiropractic care and active rehabilitation.

Medical Care

The medical providers at Reid Physicians Group use a combination of trigger point injections and medical creams or gels to target the area to provide pain relief from the source of the injury.

Chiropractic Care

Your chiropractor at Reid Physicians Group may be able to relieve your pain with chiropractic care by gently manipulating your spine to stop the firing of pain signals.

Therapeutic Massage

To help restore your body and reduce pain, therapeutic massage may also be part of your car accident treatment plan.

Active Rehabilitation

To restore your body, the team at Reid Physicians Group may also recommend an active rehabilitation program. During this program, you work one-on-one with a therapist to improve strength, your range of motion, and function in the affected area to reduce pain. Your physical therapist also provides you with an exercise program you can do at home to maintain your progress.
